Numerical control machining technology originates from conventional machining techniques and is an organic combination of conventional machining techniques, computer numerical control technology, computer-aided design, and auxiliary manufacturing technology. Due to the continuous development of technology, more and more parts require precision machining in modern manufacturing, and the requirements for machining accuracy and surface complexity of workpieces are also increasing. Therefore, CNC machining has received widespread attention, but in terms of cost savings, CNC machining still has higher costs than traditional machining. Below, we will specifically introduce the differences between CNC machining and traditional machining processes.
1. Processing technology
In ordinary machining processes, simplification can be applied to positioning benchmarks, clamping methods, cutting tools, cutting methods, and other aspects. However, data machining processes are more complex and require full consideration of these factors. Even for the same machining task, CNC machining processes can have multiple schemes and can arrange multiple machining parts and cutting tools as the main line. The process has diverse characteristics, which is the difference between CNC machining processes and traditional machining processes.
2. Clamping and Fixtures
In CNC machining technology, it is not only necessary to ensure that the coordinate directions of fixtures and machine tools are relatively fixed, but also to coordinate the dimensional relationship between parts and machine tool coordinate systems. Moreover, effective control of the positioning and clamping steps is required during the clamping process. Moreover, under traditional machining processes, due to the limited machining capacity of the machine tool itself, multiple clamping operations are required during the machining process. And it requires the use of specialized fixtures, which results in higher costs for fixture design and manufacturing, invisibly increasing the production cost of the product. The positioning of CNC machining technology can be adjusted using instruments, and in most cases, there is no need to design specialized fixtures, so its cost is relatively low.
3. Cutting tools
During the machining process, the selection of cutting tools needs to be determined based on different machining processes and methods. Especially in CNC machining, the use of high-speed cutting is not only beneficial for improving machining efficiency, but also ensures machining quality, effectively reducing the probability of cutting deformation and shortening the machining cycle. Therefore, the demand for cutting tools has further increased under the guidance of cutting. There is currently a dry cutting method that performs cutting without adding cutting fluid or with only a small amount of cutting fluid, so the tool needs to have good heat resistance. Compared to ordinary machining processes, CNC machining processes have higher requirements for the performance of cutting tools.
